The Role
As a Senior Data Architect/Engineer you will be working with our clients to set the strategy, select the platform as well as build data and business intelligence solutions that drive business value.
This role will be responsible for architecting and implementing data solutions, designing and creating data models, transforming data using ETL tools, developing integrations, as well as working with our development and business intelligence teams. This role will have customer-facing responsibilities including defining current state and future state data architectures, gathering and validating requirements, handling requests, providing updates, and troubleshooting issues.
An ideal candidate will have a strong technical background, natural technical curiosity, and the ability to learn as technology changes.
Responsibilities
- Architect, design, develop and implement solutions with databases, database systems, integration processes and analytics across various platforms.
- Microsoft Fabric and Databricks to design and implement data warehouse/business intelligence solutions.
- Microsoft Fabric architecture and data processing through presentation
- Databricks architecture and data processing through presentation
- Artificial Intelligence capabilities across Databricks and Fabric
- Azure Synapse working with pipelines, data lakes, SQL Serverless, SQL Dedicated Pools, etc. to design and implement data warehouse/business intelligence solutions.
- Design, develop and maintain semantic models using SQL Server, SQL Server Analysis Services, Microsoft Fabric and other database systems.
- Effectively understand and drive outcomes from analyzing data as it relates to the business.
- Utilize ETL tools to move and transform data between systems.
- Troubleshoot, diagnose, repair, and document solutions and problems with databases, database systems, or integration processes.
- Effectively communicate orally and in writing in a clear and straightforward manner internally as well as to our clients.
- Collaborate with external clients to evaluate business processes, gather requirements, handle requests, provide updates and troubleshoot issues.
- Work closely with business analysts, application architects, QA test engineers, project managers, and other teams.
- Work independently or in a team-based environment depending upon project needs.
- Handle multiple projects and tasks, make decisions, solve problems, prioritize and organize effectively, and show initiative in a fast-paced environment.
- Establish, modify and follow best practices for database and data warehouse architecture.
Background and Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
- 5+ years related experience or more.
- Experience in building data lake houses in Microsoft Fabric and Databricks
- Experience in designing data models and knowledge of different ETL design and development methodologies (e.g. SSIS, Apache Kafka, Apache Spark, Talend).
- Development experience with SQL and Python
- Experience in Microsoft Azure, optionally AWS and Google Cloud.
- Experience with extracting data from relational databases as well as 3rd party software.
- Knowledge and experience using business intelligence tools such as Power BI or Tableau.
- Configuring databases and services, setting up service accounts.
- Strong analytic and problem-solving skills.
- Experience in gathering and documenting business and functional requirements.
- Must be authorized to work in the US for any employer.
Preferred skills, but not required
- Experience with Power BI.
- Open source DB experience (e.g. PostgreSQL, MySQL).
